Homeless Services Caseworker

 STEP, Inc. has an opening for a full-time Homeless Services Case Worker.  This position will be serving the Martinsville and Danville areas. The successful applicant will provide case management of community resources to assist households in locating and maintaining stable housing. This person will work with individuals and families who are homeless, living in a shelter, transitioning to permanent housing, in danger of losing permanent housing or facing a housing crisis. This position will also include office management responsibilities. The successful candidate will possess an Associate’s Degree in Human Services or equivalent experience, excellent knowledge of community-based organizations and resources, thorough knowledge of case management techniques, good written and oral communication skills, basic computer skills, and the ability to work with individuals from diverse populations. The salary range for this position will be $12.50 - $15.34 per hour depending on skills and experience.

Continuum of Care Coordinator

STEP, Inc. currently has an opening for a full-time Continuum of Care Coordinator.  The Continuum of Care Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily activities of the West Piedmont Better Housing Coalition.  This position requires frequent communication with external partners, stakeholders, community leaders, and non-profit agencies to advance equitable solutions to prevent and end homelessness.  The successful candidate for this position will have a strong understanding of housing first principles, coordinated entry, data-driven decision-making, and engage in continuous quality improvement.

 QUALIFICATIONS:  Strong organizational skills, ability to quickly identify priorities, work independently, creatively problem solve, sensitivity in dealing with confidential information, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.  Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Planning, Public Policy, or related discipline preferred and 5-years’ experience in an applicable non-profit, community development, or government setting preferred; or 11 years’ experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.  Salary range $17.31/hr. - $22.73/hr.  depending on skills and experience.

Head Start/Early Head Start Program Manager

STEP, Inc. seeks a skilled and experienced professional to assume the position of Head Start/Early Head Start Manager for Franklin County.  Head Start/Early Head Start provides programming for low-income infants, toddlers, and pregnant women on a variety of topics from children’s physical, social and emotional development to prenatal care, and postpartum care.  The EHS-HS Manager will be responsible for planning and directing the day-to-day activities for the EHS-HS Program in Franklin County.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Must have a background in Early Childhood Education and at least one year of experience in working with young children.
- Must have two years of supervisory management experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Salary range $36,001.93 - $47,286.75

Head Start Bus Driver - Franklin County
 
STEP, Inc., a multifaceted community action agency, is seeking applicants for a Head Start Bus Driver in Franklin County. The Head Start Bus Driver will be responsible for the safe transportation of each Early Head Start child between his/her pick-up or drop-off designation and to the designated person on the transportation forms.  This is a 10-month, part-time position averaging 15 - 20 hours per week. Salary range: $11.78 - $14.50 per hour. 

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent;
CDL Licensed Driver;
Must have a current safe driving record (must provide a DMV transcript at interview);
The ability to manage and relate to preschool children is required;
Previous experience preferred.
